Why Exercise Mechanics?

Why Exercise Mechanics?

Exercise is recognised as having a major positive impact on health, wellness, and performance. And yet, exercise education is resigned to generic, traditional, pre-determined choreography.

We learn the exercise rules, follow them, and apply them to every client and member. This is not personal training.

When we talk about exercise design, prescription, and application, we are talking about applying forces to anatomy.

The Integra Exercise Mechanics Lab is the first step in immersing yourself in the world of exercise mechanics.

The Exercise Mechanics Lab is designed for personal trainers, strength coaches, physiotherapists, and other movement professionals who want to elevate their exercise mechanics knowledge. Improving their assessment, exercise analysis, anatomy, exercise design, and program design.

With the rise of online fitness apps and AI coaches, it's more important than ever for personal trainers to elevate their skills and prove their value. Generic exercise information is easy to find, but expert coaching and custom programming are not. The Exercise Mechanics Lab will equip you with advanced expertise that an app can't replicate.

You'll gain confidence in assessing clients, analysing exercises, and designing truly customised programs tailored to each individual.

This workshop provides a filtering of the noise, science-based best practices, and skills to thrive in any training environment.

The Exercise Mechanics Lab and RTS Foundations are complementary courses that will take your coaching to the next level.

Created by industry pioneer Tom Purvis, RTS (Resistance Training Specialist) has continually evolved exercise education since 1997.

The online Exercise Mechanics Lab lays the groundwork for assessment, anatomy, and exercise mechanics. You'll gain confidence in analysing movement and understanding forces.

RTS Foundations builds on this with intensive hands-on training in custom-fit exercise design. The six-day immersive course advances your programming, cueing, and client-centered coaching.

The Exercise Mechanics Lab is the perfect precursor to RTS Foundations. The online format makes it accessible from anywhere. Then, RTS provides next-level skills through in-person practice.

The Exercise Mechanics Lab is a 12-week online program. The program includes:

  • Weekly pre-recorded presentations
  • Nine live and interactive group video calls (3 per month)
  • Further reading and weekly quizzes

During weeks when there is a live call, expect to spend 1h per week on the call, plus a further 1h of work.

During weeks when there is no live call, expect to spend 1h per week.

The nine live lectures will take place on Thursdays at 2pm GMT.

Yes! The Exercise Mechanics Lab is an online course. Even if you cannot make the calls live, they are recorded to watch in your own time.

This workshop does have an optional 1-day practical workshop for those who wish to upgrade and can make this workshop at Integra HQ, in London.

Our role as exercise specialists is to apply forces to anatomy; therefore, understanding anatomy is key.

That said, you do not need to study anatomy before joining us.

We'll be exploring anatomy through the lens of exercise. We hope you're inspired to study anatomy more after completing the course.

All live calls are recorded and will be posted to your Member Dashboard the following day to watch in your own time.

There are no prerequisites for the Exercise Mechanics Lab.

That said, we recommend a minimum of an L3 personal trainer certification and at least 1-year experience working with clients.

The Exercise Mechanics Lab was designed for those individuals who would like to move from the pre-determined protocols we all learned in our initial training to a client-centred approach to personal training that helps our clients achieve their bravest goals.

The Exercise Mechanics Lab is designed as a stand-alone online course. However, we offer an optional upgrade for those students who would like to complement their online study with a workshop where we explore the practical application of the online materials as a group.

Whichever route you take, you'll leave the Exercise Mechanics Lab confident in assessments, exercise design, movement, cueing, communication, coaching, and program design.

L2 and L3 certifications serve as the basic requirement for entry into the fitness industry.

Exercise Mechanics Lab dives deeper into anatomy, assessments, cueing, coaching, exercise mechanics, movement, and program design. Setting you up for success with your clients.
